  • About the event

Moving Out of Homelessness 2023: An evening with New Endeavors by Women

New Endeavors by Women continues the return of our in-person fundraiser post-pandemic with a fun evening at Jackie’s on the Waterfront! Join us as we celebrate the resilience of women moving out of homelessness into lives of stability and meet some NEW women and staff as you enjoy great food and drinks. Opportunities to support through an auction will be available. This is a chance both for supporters to engage NEW and for NEW to express its gratitude. This annual event goes a long way in helping our nonprofit meet its annual fundraising goals. A good time is planned for all towards the great cause of ending homelessness in the district one woman and her family at a time.

    Why should you sponsor?

Sponsoring New Endeavors by Women, now in our 35th year of partnering with women as they move into lives of greater stability from chronic homelessness, allows a company or organization to make a measurable positive impact on the Washington, DC community. It's a way for a company or organization to demonstrate their commitment to giving back and righting inequities, and comes with recognition for the support.

    Chantal James

New Endeavors by Women (NEW) is guided by a mission to partner with women experiencing homelessness to create new futures for themselves and their families. NEW transforms lives and works to end the cycle of homelessness by providing housing, fostering the development of life skills, and promoting education and employment. Since opening our first women’s-only transitional shelter in 1988, NEW has expanded to serve both women and children through seven housing programs – one transitional program and six permanent supportive programs. Altogether, we have served more than 3,500 women and 500 children across our 34-year history, with remarkable success: 95% of our residents transition to permanent housing, and 79% of residents able to work have secured jobs or enrolled in training or educational programs. Every day, we learn something new from our clients, and we celebrate each step they take on the path to stability. In the long term, our vision is to end the cycle of homelessness for every woman and family we serve ─ so that they may enjoy the same opportunities as all residents of Washington, DC. NEW's Grants Development Manager Chantal James is trained in philosophy, brings five years of nonprofit development experience to the role and is a published novelist.
