The Teen Arts Summit is for teenagers (ages 13-19) who have an interest and desire in Fine and Performing Arts. It was founded in 2022 as a teen community choir but since has evolved into a teen community program. We have partnered with Bowie State University for students and faculty to mentor young minds as they grow their passion for art. The summit is held one week in the summer infused with interactive classes and workshops, rehearsals and a grand showcase at the end of the week for family and friends to attend. This gives teens within the DC Metropolitan area an opportunity to have a positive outlet to share their talents and goals with the local community and region at large. Our motto is: Unleash Your Creativity, Ignite Your Passion.
A sponsor would help the Teen Arts Summit create greater awareness for the summit and assist with art materials and instruments for student participants. In addition, it would help us grow our program beyond the summer and have workshops and events during the academic year for our teens and parents.
My name is LeAsia Blackmon, a resident of the DMV area and native of Prince George's County, MD. is deeply rooted in her love for God, music, and my commitment to educating and inspiring others. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Master of Arts in Behavioral Economics. I currently work as a Program Coordinator for Title III Grant Administration in higher education.
My journey with music began at the age of 5, but it wasn't until I was 14 that she truly embraced my passion. During my school years, I actively participated in gospel and concert choirs, culminating in performances at prestigious venues like the Kennedy Center.
As I progressed into college and adulthood, LeAsia seized numerous opportunities to contribute her vocals as a background vocalist for acclaimed national recording artists. I also participated in professional, community, and church choirs where I served and recorded music for many years. I am currently holding a position as a dedicated servant leader for five music ministries at my local church.
My interest emerged during my formative years at age 14, igniting my desire to support teenagers in discovering their own artistic talents and nurturing their growth. In 2022, I collaborated with the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Bowie State University to launch the Teens Community Gospel Choir initiative. Since its success, I dreamed of revamping the choir initiative to provide more artistic opportunities for teenagers. After revamping the initiative, I launched the Teen Arts Summit.
My mission is to establish a nurturing environment where young individuals can explore and develop their God-given talents within their local and regional communities.
