Cross -generational influence

Action oriented
More than a celebration—this event equips attendees to drive justice and equity forward.
Founded in the 1970s by Maggie Kuhn, the Gray Panthers emerged as a powerful voice for older adults’ rights and intergenerational activism. The movement began when Kuhn, facing mandatory retirement at age 65 despite being the primary caregiver for her elderly mother and disabled brother, refused to accept forced economic insecurity. With support from a network of women in her church and community, she organized to fight against age discrimination, economic injustice, and the lack of universal healthcare—issues that remain central to our advocacy today.
Women have always been at the heart of the Gray Panthers’ work, leading movements for economic equity, healthcare reform, and social justice. This event serves as both a celebration of our past and a call to action for the future. By fostering awareness, strengthening community connections, and uplifting the voices of women in advocacy, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering women as catalysts for meaningful social change.
Through engaging discussions, strategic organizing, and a deep reflection on the legacy of women-led activism, this gathering will provide a space to inspire, educate, and mobilize our community. Together, we continue the fight for justice across generations.
