J.S. Bach arr. Reger: Suite in G Minor
Hilary Tann: With the Heather and Small Birds
    Beethoven: Mass in C
WSO Chamber Choir, Soloists from the Pittsburgh Opera

The Palace stage will be filled with the voices of the WSO Chamber Choir and soloists from the Pittsburgh Opera to perform Beethoven’s Mass in C for the season finale. The evening begins with Bach’s Suite in G Minor and also features Welsh-born composer Hillary Tann’s nature-inspired With the Heather and Small Birds. This concert is an extension of our Voices from the Podium Initative to bring composers of color and female composers to the forefront in orchestral music.

    Why should you sponsor?

From a standpoint of humility, we are grateful for the opportunity to move forward from 2020.  Through innovation, drive, and lots of reformatting, the music never stopped being played and even reached many more households than ever before.  The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra creates opportunities for enrichment and education because of our passion and the support of generous folks like you.

By continuing to help to propel our mission of educating our neighbors about classical/orchestral music, the symphony is making an active difference.  Even by small steps of providing a moment of calm, joy, or escape through trying times, we can lend a hand to our neighbors.  You can join us in this mission through this sponsorship of this celebration of moving past COVID-19!  Beethoven's Mass in C is an excellent reminder of the beauty of connection and shared experiences.  This concert will act as a catalyst to join a region back together and create meaningful opportunities for dialogue.

The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra (WSO) was founded in 1969 by local musicians and community leaders.  Their goal was to establish and build a community-based orchestra of the highest possible caliber.  Through dedication and inspiration, the Westmoreland Symphony has exceeded its earliest expectations.  Today, the WSO consists of approximately sixty-five professional musicians, who have been inspired to present the highest level of artistic quality under the current direction of Daniel Meyer. Throughout the pandemic, the symphony kept moving forward and developed its first-ever digital concert season and WSO To-Go series.

The symphony is charged with celebrating all of the wonderful happenings of Westmoreland Region just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. We look towards helping to continue to fill any "void" felt by our neighbors as we all move forward together.
