AFRICA DAY, COMMEMORATED ANNUALLY ON MAY 25TH, MARKS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AFRICAN UNITY (OAU) IN 1963. THE OAU'S GOAL WAS TO PROMOTE UNITY AND COOPERATION AMONG AFRICAN NATIONS. TODAY, AFRICA DAY IS A MOMENTOUS OCCASION TO CELEBRATE AFRICAN ACHIEVEMENTS, DIVERSITY, AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO GLOBAL CULTURE AND DEVELOPMENT.
WE ARE THRILLED TO PRESENT OUR PROPOSAL FOR THE AFRICA DAY PARADE, SCHEDULED FOR MAY 25TH, 2024. THIS EVENT IS A VIBRANT CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN CULTURE, HISTORY, AND UNITY, BRINGING TOGETHER DIVERSE COMMUNITIES TO HONOR AFRICA'S RICH HERITAGE AND ITS IMPACT ON THE WASHINGTON D.C. COMMUNITY.
My name is Esther Logah, and I work in the entertainement industry where i manage DJ's and I coordinate events. I've coordinated a few festivals in the area, including DMV Party in the Park with over 3,000 people in attendance, and Afrobeats and Wine Festival with over 2,500 people.
This event is intended to be a day of celebrating culture, music, food, and life. This is going to be an annual event, with hopes that in 2025 we can do an Africa Day Parade in the heart of Washington D.C.
