Cassandra Castillo

 was born in 1996 in Braila, Romania. I moved to  Michigan when I was about 1 1/2 years old.  I am an only child. I have 2 Golden Retrievers.  I have a very good life and  I am very happy .  I am very close to my parents and Grandmother.  
I attend Wesleyan Church in Jackson and Sometimes I go to Spring Arbor Free Methodist regularly. I feel a strong desire to help people who are in need.  I usually volunteer with community events. 
I graduated from Grass Lake High School.  I  moved here from Livingston County Michigan.  There , I started High School in 9th grade at Kensington Woods High School.  Prior to moving to Grass Lake High School, I was very active in Basketball for many years. I played at school and on an AAU Team.  One of my most memorable accomplishments was being awarded MVP of my 9th grade Basketball Team.  I also earned my Varsity Letter.   Playing basketball on a team , taught me many things.  Being a team player is important not only on the basketball court but in everyday life.  In order to be  a successful player,  you have to support and show respect to other people. Being on a team gave me a sense of pride and confidence.   In life I have learned that I have to work hard for the things I want.  Hard work pays off.  I have also learned to stay focused on my dreams and keep working toward them.  Anything you want to achieve in life does not come easy. Dreams come true when you never quit.  So,  I have learned to keep pushing forward in my life and when things do not always turn out the way I want, to keep focused and work harder. I do not quit or give up. I keep trying. Another accomplishment in my life has been having enough courage to perform in a Community Production
 " Once upon a Mattress".  To some people it might not be a big deal, but I had to sing in front of an audience and have had no formal singing lessons. I think it takes a lot of courage to stand in front of strangers and be critiqued. I enjoyed performing in the play and plan to continue performing again. When you are doing something you love, stay focused.  My most recent accomplishment is being a photographer for the local newspaper. The editor gave me a chance to prove myself.  Sometimes you need people in your life that give you that chance. This experience has helped me believe in myself and just what I can do.  I am not sure where this may go, but it is a lot of fun doing something you love. I think it is exciting growing up but a little scary as well.  After this year, 2014, my school years are over and the second part of my life will start. I'm on to college now, then work.  I think by setting goals for myself and achieving those goals one at a time, will help me achieve my dreams.  Everyone should follow their dreams.  My most accomplished goal is graduating high school, and  placing in BPA, Business Professionals of America, with in my senior year, I placed with in three comps. The first event I did was out of 1,000 people. I place 7th in that comp. the second and third were out of 100 students ranging from 13-18 I place in 1st and 2nd. I am going back to BPA and making sure that I will be at the top spot.  I can speak 3 langues. English, American Sign Langue, and Romanian.
