The Type 1 Takedown,

Three Kings Athletics - Keystone, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States Three Kings Athletics - Keystone, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

  • About the event

****This form requires a location, so I put our flagship gym ... HOWEVER ... we are a nationwide event in gyms coast to coast********

I'm looking for one headline sponsor for the right partner.  Our event is a one day CrossFit workout fundraiser in CrossFit gyms across the country.  Last year we had 40+ host facilities.  This year we expect the same.

Each person at each gym that signs up receives (for $25) a t-shirt for the event and other sponsor benefits (mainly discount codes).  They also then submit their workout score for a chance to win prizes.

The T1D Takedown started in 2020 when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and sprung to action.  With the help of my gym owner we launched a fundraiser in our gym ... which then grew to more than 20 gyms that first year.  I'm floored at how things have come together

The Type 1 Takedown benefits Diabetes Will's Way, a 501c3 organization that issues grants to families and individuals across the USA that struggle to afford the costs of living with type 1 diabetes, a chronic condition with no known cause or cure.  Now in its third year, the T1D Takedown has raised more than $23,000 to benefit Diabetes Will's Way - almost entirely through those $25 signup fees.

Diabetes Will’s Way is a nonprofit located in Carmel, Ind. serving young people in the United States who have type 1 diabetes. They serve families who land in the type 1 diabetes healthcare gap. These families have access to insurance. But, access to healthcare is still not enough.

Families who qualify for a grant are fighting for their children. But, their deductibles and copays are so high, they cannot afford their child’s monthly prescribed medicines.

For example, insulin still remains unaffordable for many.  The reality is one vial of insulin does not equate to a months supply.  In other words, type 1 diabetes patients not on a pump, most likely, need 2-3 vials of fast-acting insulin and at least one vial of long-acting insulin.  Families are still looking at approximately $500 to $600 per month for insulin alone!  Few families can handle that cost month in month out.  Yes, insurance can help, but it’s not enough.

Diabetes Will’s Way provides two types of grants. One is for durable medical equipment; primarily insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.  The other is an emergency cash grant that helps families in crisis afford daily diabetic supplies like insulin, test strips, syringes, alcohol pads, insertion sets and cartridges.

    Why should you sponsor?

It's an event that truly has done a lot of good over the last two years.  For the right partner that's looking to contribute to making a social impact.

The entire event has been boostrapped by just me.  It's a one man show.  Certainly I've had great help and guidance and support by many ... but the bulk of everything comes down on my shoulders.  It's been a labor of absolute love and it's been incredible to watch it grow.

From a business perspective ... it's an event that was in 40+ CrossFit gyms last year with almost 500 registered participants.  It's a great way to put a product name in front of a lot of people.

    Joel Godett

My name is Joel Godett.  I'm a freelance sports broadcaster (if you watch a lot of college basketball you may have come across me ... maybe) and a CrossFit coach.  In 2020 I was diagnosed with typ 1 diabetes.  Literally laying awake in bed one night thinking about my new life I was wondering about all the people that can't afford the crazy costs that come with T1D.  I googled charities that help in that area and found one just down the street in Diabetes Will's Way.  I sprung into action contacting my CrossFit gym to get our fundraiser off the ground and then drove to every gym I could in the area until we had over 20 participants.  That was how the T1D Takedown was born and it's a huge passion of mine now.

I love being able to help people (part of why I coach CrossFit) and this lines up so much with me being able to find a way to give back.

I hope you'll invest in that journey with me.

Headline Sponsor

I'm looking for one headline sponsor for the right partner. Our event is a one day CrossFit workout fundraiser in CrossFit gyms across the country. Last year we had 40+ host facilities. This year we expect the same. Each person at each gym that signs up receives (for $25) a t-shirt for the event and other sponsor benefits (mainly discount codes). They also then submit their workout score for a chance to win prizes. Our headline sponsor would be a cash sponsor to help offset to cost of printing t-shirts so that more money raised can be sent directly to our cause. That organization would then, obviously, have their name/logo incorporated into the design of the back of the t-shirt. We're looking for one main partner for this spot. The Type 1 Takedown benefits Diabetes Will's Way, a 501c3 organization that issues grants to families and individuals across the USA that struggle to afford the costs of living with type 1 diabetes, a chronic condition with no known cause or cure.
