The Afterparty is all about providing a solidified space for Black creatives regardless of social media following and open up the doors for inclusion during New York Fashion Week. We aspire to create an bi-annual event that cultivates
creativity, community and culture through fashion. We successfully had our first event during February's S/S NYFW on February 9th at The Delancey in Manhattan, NYC. Results: Our event was to-capacity with attendees not only from New York but, Atlanta, Charlotte, Las Vegas — and even Paris! We leveled out the playing field and people got a chance to network with journalists, up and coming designers, people who work at Forbes, Hearst, CNN, Conde Nast and so much more.
For the Black community who wants to experience being a part of New York Fashion Week. We have a long way to go in the inclusivity of fashion and traditionally, New York Fashion Week is specifically for the “whos who” of fashion. What about the Black creatives that are overlooked? This event is designed to continue bringing exclusivity to a time people know and love and we plan on bringing back our last event of the year with a summertime activation that celebrates and embodies a New York summer on July 22nd — but we need help!
This event is all about changing the narrative. We are in a new day and age, and we're no longer celebrating spaces that are limited to people of color and more specifically Black people. From hip hop to TikTok, Black people consistently drive the from beauty to fashion with little recognition, inclusion in the conversation or invitations to the rooms they rightfully deserve to be in; sponsoring this event showcases that you're a game changer.
You celebrate the beauty of change and collaboration. You're also a lover of fashion and good times. As creatives, we rarely have a chance to relax and have fun. This party also provides that experience.
The first half of the party is strictly networking: we've created card games to help people warm up, mingle with others in the room that they don't know and the last half of the party is all about dancing and having fun — while looking incredibly stylish.
This event means a lot to over 200 Black creatives in New York City and you can help to make sure we keep this event going for years to come.
