  • About the event

The Coalition for Health Promotion and Social Development (HEPS-Uganda)  in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Stop Tetanus Club is organising a month-long ‘Stop Tetanus awareness campaign’. The Stop Tetanus Club is a strong support group of people who have been affected and infected by the deadly Tetanus disease in Uganda

The campaign starts this September with awareness messages on radio, Television, Newspaper and Social media adverts and will climax with a charity run and vaccination on October 16, 2022. This campaign was inspired by the recurrent preventable deaths resulting from Tetanus despite the government's tireless vaccination efforts against the disease.

Every year, 3000 to 5000 people are affected by Tetanus in Uganda, according to the Uganda National Expanded Program on Immunization (UNEPI), with majority of patients dying because it requires emergency and long-term supportive treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

The ‘Stop Tetanus Awareness Campaign’ aims to create public awareness on Tetanus, mobilize funds and resources towards supporting impaired Tetanus survivors and patients at Mulago Hospital.

    Why should you sponsor?

The Stop Tetanus awareness campaign reaches hundreds of people who watch television, listen to the radio and read newspapers where the adverts will air. Still, the marathon will attract hundreds of people, mainly from non-government organisations, Public services and other private companies. Hence this campaign offers an incredible marketing prospect and an opportunity to give back to the community (corporate social responsibility). In addition, we shall launch the Stop Tetanus campaign at a press conference at Mulago Hospital on September 15, 2022. We shall reach a  large audience through media
coverage, which will benefit your company/organisation. This is an excellent occasion to gain positive publicity while saving a life.
