About the event
Smith Leadership in Business Conference (SLBC), previously the Queen’s Commerce Leadership Summit (QCLS), is a student-run leadership development conference aimed to equip delegates with the necessary skills to thrive in a business world–one that is changing more now than ever. Our goal is to reach a group of delegates that come from a variety of programs across Canada and continue to challenge the way that we define leadership. To achieve this, our conference provides learning experiences that are accessible, value-driven, and focus on professional and personal development.
SLBC has distinguished itself within the Smith Commerce Society as the premier business leadership conference at Queen’s University. This is evident in our 2014 and 2015 nominations for “Conference of the Year” by the Commerce Society, as well as winning the 2017 Commerce Cup Award, which recognized the conference that contributed the most to the Smith School of Business.
This year, the theme of the conference is “Resiliency in Changemaking,” to emphasize the ability of leaders to bring about positive change in the face of mammoth challenges. We’re in desperate need of leaders that are capable of taking on complex problems and don’t view giving up as an option. Leaders don’t see it as a choice as to whether they decide to “get back up again” in the face of unfortunate development, they simply do so.
As the Co-Chairs of SLBC 2022, we have the opportunity to create a lasting impact on the business leaders of tomorrow by challenging their personal definition of leadership. Since its inception, our executive team has been committed to this mission, and alongside corporate sponsors and carefully selected speakers, we aim to continue cementing our position as the premier undergraduate leadership conference.
