About our event

Art has the ability to uplift, encourage, transform, and enlighten. The Faces of Change Art Exhibit will do just that. Challenging the long-held assumptions about the faces of our nations criminal justice system. Hear first-hand accounts from former correctional facility residents on what it feels like to transition from incarceration to reentry into society. you don't want to miss this thought-provoking opportunity to dialogue.

This year we will be presenting an Art Exhibit titled Faces of Change- a groundbreaking collection of photographs shot by Nick Vedros, showcasing correctional facility residents

Sponsorship Opportunities

Reaching Out from Within is a non-profit organization co-founded in 1982 by a lifers club Lansing Correctional Facility resident who wanted to gain insight on the core roots of violence. Through meetings with fellow residents a curriculum emerged which became known as the BlueBook, utilized in weekly group meetings this book generates conversations around trauma, domestic violence, positive transformation, and a host of others. Our groups are now in every prison in Kansas, 3 in North Carolina, 2 in Missouri and actively/ rapidly growing into other states.

I am Eliza Barr, Executive Director for ROFW and I have spent nearly 15 years working in reentry services for our nations justice involved. I decided to join ROFW when I had the opportunity to see the caliber of board members, volunteers, and staff that chose to align themselves with this organization. Former corrections staff, justice involved, state employees, and humanitarians all held a profound belief in the work done by ROFW. Once I attended a BlueBook meeting I shared that same belief, this program was developed by inmates for inmates which makes it groundbreaking and effective.
