Rocky Mountain High – The Ultimate Tribute Concert with Symphony Orchestra, Guest Vocalists, All Star Band Line Up and John Denver’s original Arranger/ Conductor Lee Holdridge.

Debuting March 2018 in Kelowna and Vernon to thrilled sell-out audiences, this epic concert brings together the beloved hits of John Denver with an all-star band line up and local symphony orchestras conducted by Emmy & Grammy Award winner Lee Holdridge, who was Denver’s original arranger & conductor. The Winnipeg concert at the Centennial Concert Hall features the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra with guest soprano Lara Ciekiewicz and tenor Chad Abrahamson. The Calgary concert at Arts Commons Jack Singer Concert Hall with special guests, soprano Kathleen Morrison and from the Calgary Opera, tenor Matthew Bruce. The Edmonton concert at Winspear Centre will be performed and presented by the Edmonton Symphony with special performances by soprano Cara McLeod and tenor Robert Clark. Edmonton Oiler fans might recognize Robert from the many times he has sung the National anthem at the Oiler’s hockey games!

Lee Holdridge, John Denver’s original conductor/arranger will of course be conducting all concerts and together with Canadian recording artists Rick and Steve Worrall, an all star band they promise this is a show you won’t want to miss. As well as John Denver, Lee Holdridge has penned countless scores for both TV shows and motion pictures, and has either written, arranged, or conducted for numerous other respected pop artists, including Barbra Streisand, Brian May of Queen, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Neil Diamond, Neal Sedaka and opera tenor Placido Domingo. He has won seven Emmy’s and two Grammy’s. Having Lee Holdridge conduct the OSO here in the Okanagan is more than just a special treat, it promises to be a very memorable occasion that will be talked about for years to come.

RICK WORRALL

Rick Worrall is a Canadian recording Artist with 5 albums to his credit.  He originally signed to Attic Recordsin 1978.   In the late 80’s he and his brother Steve were signed to A&Mand in 1991 their self titled album Worrall was released.  In 2000 he teamed with Juno award winning producer Lance Anderson to write and record “When Love Is Right” a blues project that featured some of the best known Bluesmen including, Domenic Troiano, Colin Lindenand Richie Hayward.

Since making Kelowna his home in 2007, Rick has turned his attention to musical theatre and has been cast in a number of Kelowna Actors Studio productions, including, Les Miserable as Javert, Fiddler on the Roof as Tevye.

A by chance fill in last October, when the lead singer of Jean’s and Classics lost his voice during the first night of The OSO’sproduction of an Elton John’s pop tribute Mad Man Across The Water, sparked an idea to stage a similar show.

A love of John Denver’s music and knowing how well it would lend to symphony led him to Lee Holdrige, Mr. Denver’s original arranger/conductor and a friendship began and led to the creation of the concert series, Rocky Mountain High – An Evening of John Denver.
