About the event

This year annual retreat theme “Renew, Restore, Refresh and Love yourself Retreat” conference  and workshop will take place in Puerto Rico September 16-19,2016 for United States Attendees. In addition, the conference and workshop on September 17,2016 from 8am-5pmat the Verdaza Hotel in Isla Verde to provide a benefit for the local women in the island. The purpose is to bring women together to inspire, motivate and educate them on the importance of loving one another and understanding that we can do more together than one on her own. This will help the island I grew up with as I still have some women in my family that live there and need the motivation.

Melanie  Torres, Founder,Blogger, Teacher & Motivational speaker

My name is Melanie Torres and I am the founder of Mel’s Women’s Club. I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I migrated to the U.S. when I was 15 years old my mother put me on a plane alone which I was just exited to come to the U.S. to pursue the American Dream. The American Dream to me was to better myself, to be financially stable to help my family, and to learn a second language. Later, I met my high school sweetheart, decided to marry at a young age, and had my first child when I was 18, and the second when I was 22.  They are my pride and joy. It was a difficult decision but after four years of marriage my husband and I grew apart due to immaturity, lack of communication and lack of respect for each other, so we divorced.  I was 24-year old; a single mother with two toddlers to take care of so parenthood, dating, long-term relationships, and financial setbacks all became obstacles I had to struggle with. This made me a stronger women and I learned to make better decisions and choices in my life.

Through the grace of God, I decided to embark on a new journey in life. Currently, I work in higher education.  My passion at this point of my life is about the promotion of health and wellness, not only for myself but also for those around me.  As a result of my own experiences, I have grown to love who I am today.  I am familiar with the despair and frustration endemic to individuals merely attempting to survive. I am convinced that by sharing my time and life experiences, I can make a difference between unhappiness and hope in the lives of other women.  This year after obtaining my Master in Business Administration this made me realized that I need to give back to others. As a result, Mel’s Women’s Club was born, the goal and mission of Mel’s Women’s Club is to help support, give guidance to women all over the world who desires to accomplish their dreams and goals. In the process of deifying the odds, overcoming struggle and obstacles, and freeing them from negativity.
