About the event
Prevention Links and The Health and Wellness Coalition of Union County will join together with community members to support substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery at the 17th Annual Union County Red Ribbon Day Drug Prevention Walk on Saturday, October 22, 2016 atNomahegan Park in Cranford. This event is a countywide kickoff celebrating Red Ribbon Drug Prevention Weekthroughout Union County. Red Ribbon is celebrated locally and nationally to increase awareness and support for substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Why should you sponsor?
Last year, 781 people died of a drug related overdose. Most of them were between the ages of 18-25. Funds raised for this event will directly support initiatives to support individuals in recovery from addiction. Such programs include the Raymond J. Lesniak Experience, Strength, and Hope Recovery High School--New Jersey's first and, to date, only public recovery high school; Union County's emerging opioid overdose response initiative; the Experience, Strength, and Hope Mentor Program; and other initiatives.
Additionally, sponsors will be highlighted in promotional materials throughtout Union County leading to the event and at the event itself which draws several hundred NJ residents.
Morgan ThompsonPrevention Links is a private, not-for-profit organization, which takes a leadership role in the prevention of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and related issues.
With community being defined as any environment where people live, work, or learn, the goal of Prevention Links is to pull together all available resources to eliminate the deleterious effects of drugs, alcohol, violence, and inadequate educational and health institutions in our communities.
Prevention Links focuses on identifying and enhancing existing strengths within the individual, family, school, and work setting to serve as the first and most valuable resource in sustainable revitalization of all types of community.
Prevention Links implements training programs and evidence based strategies, practices and programs that are outcome based and empower all segments of a community to be actively engaged in changing their environments.
