  • About the event

    Our Mission is to promote all of the Arts and those Creatives who bring Art, Entertainment, Film, Entrepreneurship and vibrancy to the Community At Large.

    As the only Black History Month Film Festival in the World, we feature all Cultures and Filmmakers predominately in NY and many from around the World.

    With Poetry, Music, Dance Videos, Movies, Docs, Series / Talk Show Episodes and Business Commercials, we are nothing short of Unique. 

    We do everything Big and Special and are the only Film Festival in Queens, NY offering Red Carpet Styled Events and including relatable themes for each of the 4 annual Film Festival.

    Black History Month begins in late February for one day and continues in April for several days so that the weather is conducive to attracting larger crowds. 

    We also attract fillmmakers attendance from other states (on average 8) and our Virtual Platform makes the Festival accessible nationwide and internationally.

    Why should you sponsor?

    Historically speaking, all types of minorities have had little access to the professional film festival world.  Few festivals offer the Categories which we do and we add more as needed.

    Our company is founded by creatives, a mother and son team and it is based in the community in which both have been raised.  This community has bragging rights of famous legendary residents such as Count Baise, James Brown, Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Milt Hinton, LL Cool J and many more.  

    Talent and an appreciation of the arts are inherent in the air and in belonging to a large number of Chamber Of Commerces and local Business / Arts / Law Enforcement Organizations, Queens Underground provides Transformation, Realization, Appreciation, Change, Diversity and Support for the many Creatives who previously had to leave the community for Support with their various creative disciplines. 

    The founders and team are not afraid to take risks and provide Themes and Features that bring the Lights, Camera, Action vibe to the Film Festival Industry.  With a Filmmaker retention rate of over 30% worldwide for several seasons, we are able to feel gaps and needs for Creatives and the Community at large. 

    With Sponsorship, Sponsors will benefit with our growth, outreach and reputation while we are able to upgrade both the In-Person Festivala and Virtual Platform to reach even more Filmmakers and Attendees. Our intention is to become the premiere Film Festival Expo for Minorities, Small Businesses for both Adult and Children's Films.

    As an Artist, I have held a variety of job titles which prepared me to run our amazing organization.  Formal education includes 5 degrees (3 Masters) and a PhD. While I could still remain a School Principal, it is the Arts, Entrepreneurship and Community Work that needs me more, because the Arts and the Smallest of Businesses and Organizations continue to be left behind, are considered last - and yet - are the most vital components of Community, Education, Self and Progress. 

    With a small staff, I am, we are all doers, designers, promoters, organizers, hosts and active within the community. 

    We are idea people and innovators and going into our 4th year and 10th Film Festival, our track record is impressive as it typically takes a team of 6 people to organize one Film Festival per year. 

    I am that visionary who started grassroots and ran several businesses prior - and the path has led me here and this is who I am and what I do. It is now time for us to go to the next stage of development and offer more to a larger in-person and virtual audience.
