Scientists do not dare to dig into the unknown and make discoveries.
But when they find something new and exciting, they still struggle to
communicate their findings.
This difficulty is particularly problematic because a clear and precise
communication of their findings is fundamental for:
1. advancing their careers,
2. advancing scientific knowledge,
3. promoting public awareness to science and,
4. helping policymakers to make informed decisions.
Thus, to help scientists to deal with their communication problems, we
idealized the Munich Science Slam. By training researchers to
become better speakers, we will help everyone: scientists, science and
the public!
The Munich Science Slam is a three-step event when participants can
learn, practice, and share.
Munich Science Slam is a non-profitable initiative with the goal of stimulating scientists to share their researches more often with the community. By supporting our event, you are directelly contributing for scientific divulgation and the democratization of science.
I always get excited talking about my scientific projects, and it is a pretty rewarding feeling to also make other people excited about my work. In my experience this usually led to great discussions and feedback which is crucial for progress in my research. I wanted to share this experience with other scientists to foster science communication. Therefore, I had the idea of creating a novel Science Slam that is not aimed at the lay audience, but rather a “from scientists for scientists” event. At the same time, I was very lucky to meet Nick and after I told him about my idea, he was just excited as I am and suggested to combine the Science Slam with a presentation skills workshop. And thus, the MUNICH SCIENCE SLAM was born!
