  • About the event

Join us on Saturday, March 10th
for an evening of delicacies and delight!

Enjoy fine Indian cuisine, a silent auction, and raffle, featuring a wine cooler filled with a wonderful assortment of wine.

Suicide Prevention of Yolo County is hosting a wonderfully tasty fundraising dinner in an effort to raise much-needed organizational funding.

Each contribution provides for the delivery of quality community-based services, as well as ensures our crisis line volunteers receive the critical training required of helping those in need emotionally.

According to the latest statistics in the United States,
suicide rates have increased for most age groups,
including young people aged 10 to 24...

    But, suicide IS preventable.

Please help our organization fight to prevent the tragic loss of lives.

    Why should you sponsor?

When you help fund our programs,
    you actually save lives

Your sponsorship will be used to help sustain each of our lifesaving programs --- including our 24-hour crisis lines and our “SOS-Signs of Suicide®” educational program, which is provided to all secondary school students in Yolo County.

In addition, we offer a level of exposure and reach to draw attention towards your brand, as well as host attendees that hold decision making power.

    Exposure
Sponsors* will receive optimal exposure through press release disbursement to the four (4) major local media groups, as well as social media recognition (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, etc.).

    Reach
We have the potential to reach the over 213,000 residents of Yolo County through local media releases, etc. The 2017 Readership for the Davis Enterprise alone encompasses 49,000 subscribers!

We are a non-profit organization with the mission of providing crisis prevention and intervention, education, and community outreach services to the residents of Yolo County.

Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services has been providing crisis prevention and intervention, education and community outreach services to the residents of Yolo County for the past 51+ years... and we're not going to stop!

    A Little History

Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County (SPYC) was founded in 1966.

Professionals in the community recognized a need for crisis response services. A small group of citizens organized a telephone crisis line funded by churches, service groups, and individual donors.

Incorporation as a non-profit organization occurred in 1980 as a result of a growing need for services.

Today, SPYC is among the oldest suicide prevention crisis lines in the nation and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The agency also serves teens in Yolo County through the Allied Services for Kids (ASK) crisis lines, the Davis and Woodland School Safety Lines, as well as through the “SOS Signs of Suicide®” school education and prevention program.  Support groups for those who have lost a loved one to suicide are also provided by the agency.

Each year, SPYC provides immediate telephone support to more than 5,000 callers who are contemplating suicide or are in severe psychological distress.

    Services We Provide

    24-Hour Crisis Lines
Confidential, anonymous telephone counseling and referral information is provided any time of day or night by trained crisis volunteers. Immediate crisis intervention over the phone can decrease the need for more intensive counseling services.

    ASK Teen Crisis Lines
The Allied Services for Kids (ASK) teen line began in December 1994 to provide 24-hour availability to teens and families in crisis. Whatever the problem, teens are welcome to call this confidential and anonymous crisis line for support.

    School Safety Tip Lines
This 24-hour confidential tip line is where students in Davis and Woodland can report concerns about school safety, including information about possible violence or incidents of harassment. Since the school shooting tragedy at Columbine, such student reports have saved hundreds of lives.

Friends & Families of Suicide Loss Support Group
This once a month group provides a place for people who have lost someone to suicide. With the aid of a professional facilitator, group members help each other through the painful grief associated with a suicidal death. It is free and open to anyone.

SOS Signs of Suicide® School Education Program
For the last few decades, Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County has provided our well-received “Choose Life” prevention education program to all secondary schools in our County. In the past couple school years, we have been pleased to announce the implementation of “SOS Signs of Suicide®” prevention program. It is the only school-based program to:

    • Show a reduction in suicide attempts (by 40%) in a randomized controlled study (American Journal of Public Health, March, 2004).
    • Be selected by SAMHSA for its National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP).
    • The SOS® Program has also documented a dramatic increase in help-seeking behavior by others (Adolescent and Family Health, 2003).
