Established in 1997, the Greater Hartford Pro Am, Inc. is the premier summer basketball showcase in New England.  GHPA delivers entertainment to spectators and offers sponsors a venue to promote their businesses, products and services. 

Our summer basketball showcase provides sponsors the opportunity to target many demographics and build rapport with  spectators, athletes and the community at large. 

Our showcase gives sponsors an effective means of capturing new clientele and strengthening their position in the communities they serve. No other showcase or marketing strategy delivers entertainment while making their businesses a fixture in the community.

Throughout our 19 years, the GHPA has procured the involvement of many professionals (NBA, NDBL, ABA, and European leagues) and amateur (NCAA college divisions 1, 2, and 3, and high school juniors and seniors) athletes.

The GHPA summer basketball showcase has given these athletes the opportunity to highlight their existing skills, to develop new skills, and to stay in shape during the off-season.  Furthermore, the involvement of these athletes has afforded area young people and adults the opportunity to enjoy the talents of these basketball professionals at no cost to game attendees.

Peter Higgins

Good Day! I'm Peter Higgins.. Founder of the Greater Hartford Pro-Am. I started this event back in 1997 as way to give back to my community after serving in the US Navy and in the Gulf War. I saw a void within the youth in the area. I watched a similar event in Norfolk VA (the Hampton Roads Pro-Am). What really intrigued me was how their community comprised of young and old, male & female, with no racial barriers, could all come together in peace to watch local, college and professional basketball players workout on a high level. This arena was a proving ground for great talent and the community appreciated what they were witnessing. Bring this kind of event to Connecticut was a priority for me because a could see the long term benefits to gathering a community to an event such as this, but keeping it free for spectators was key. So now present day we have kept it running in CT for almost 20 years. We have become a staple in the community. I am a Gold Certified coach under USA Basketball. Also we are under the compliance and certified by the NBA and NCAA.
