About the event

This year the sorority will celebrate 94 years of continuous service and in honor of our founders and organization, Gamma Nu Sigma will be hosting a Founders Day Gala. The Gala will be held on November 11, 2016 at Fiesta Banquet Hall in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey from 7pm-12am. Along with celebrating our founders and organization, we will also be honoring individuals within the community. These individuals are community and civic leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs and member of our great organization that make a difference in the lives of many every day. Our key note speaker for this event will be Geneva Reed- Veal a member of our organization and mother of our late Sorority sister Sandra Bland.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a leading international, non-profit community service organization that continues to grow through sisterhood, scholarship, and service. Our sorority has more than 500 chapters in the United States, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Germany, Korea and the Virgin Islands. We are a diverse group of women with various careers including educators, physicians, politicians, entertainers, and entrepreneurs. Some of our notable Sorors include Hip Hop legend MC Lyte (Lana Moorer), R&B singer Kelly Price, Jazz vocalist Maysa Leak, Gospel Singer Vanessa Bell Armstrong and Actress Victoria Rowell.

Gamma Nu Sigma is an Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. founded on September 8, 1962. Servicing Essex County and surrounding counties in New Jersey, Gamma Nu Sigma actively makes a difference in the community through partnership, community service and engaging in our sorority’s national projects which include a focus on education, health and leadership.
