  • About the event

✅ What is F1 in Schools Professional Class?

F1 in Schools is an international STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) competition where student teams design, build, and race miniature Formula 1 cars. It’s recognized globally as the premier STEM challenge for students aged 9–19.

Within the competition, there are different levels:

    1. Entry Class / Rookie Class

    • For newcomers.

    • Simpler technical requirements.

    • Lower budgets.

    • Typically, national-level competitions.

    2. Development Class

    • Intermediate category.

    • More complex engineering.

    • Step up from Rookie Class.

    3. Professional Class

This is the highest level of the competition. It’s the “top league” in F1 in Schools.

    Key Features of Professional Class:

    Advanced Engineering Standards

    • Teams must comply with highly detailed technical regulations similar to those of real F1.

    • Involves advanced CAD (Computer-Aided Design), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations, and wind tunnel testing.

    • Aerodynamics, weight, and materials are optimized for performance.

    Manufacturing Excellence

    • Cars are CNC-machined or 3D-printed to tight tolerances.

    • Teams often innovate with new materials or manufacturing techniques.

    Innovation & Branding

    • Professional Class teams produce:

      • A highly professional enterprise portfolio detailing branding, management, and financials.

      • A pit display that showcases their engineering process and brand identity.

    • Teams must handle sponsorships, budgets, and marketing like a real F1 team.

    Competition at World Finals

    • Professional Class teams qualify for the F1 in Schools World Finals.

    • Competition is fierce, featuring the best teams from around the globe.

    Higher Costs and Sponsorship Needs

    • Costs can reach thousands of dollars (or AED) for:

      • Car manufacturing.

      • Pit display builds.

      • Travel and accommodation for World Finals.

      • Marketing and printing.

    Broader Educational Scope

    • Professional Class is not just about racing cars:

      • Project management.

      • Public speaking.

      • Graphic design.

      • Teamwork and leadership.

      • Engineering documentation.

    • Teams are scored on both technical excellence and business/enterprise skills.

    In Short:

“Professional Class in F1 in Schools is the elite tier of the competition, where high school students operate like a professional F1 team — designing an advanced race car, creating a business brand, and competing at an international level for engineering and enterprise excellence.”
