RAW Albany is a Black/female-owned company which reflects the blending of cultures and embraces global diversity via art, music and fashion.
10% of our profits go to the Duane X Arts Foundation. The Duane X Arts Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, which was founded in 2020. The organization will focus on all aspects of art; Visual, Fashion, and Graphic Art, just to name a few. The Duane X Arts Foundation's mission is to use the resources and expertise we have at our disposal to Change the World through Art. The programs offered are geared to ignite our student's journey of self-discovery and creativity. The organization offers innovative ways our students can be creative while discovering their own talents and passions.
Essence TodmanEssence Latifah, the owner of Essence Latifah Products, Events, and Designs, and now the Showcase Director for RAW Albany is an independent artist. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Essence was a photographer focusing on fashion and wedding photography. Essence showcased her own art at a RAW show in New York City and Boston. Being apart of these showcases gave her the confidence to continue her art journey and allowed her to build lasting relationship with other artists.
Essence is also the President for the Duane X Arts Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to continue the legacy of Essence's younger brother Duane who was tragically killed in 2020. He believed that “Art Can Change the World.” 10% of the Profits from every RAW Albany showcase will go toward the Duane X Arts Foundation.
Essence is now a passionate supporter of the local art scene and is looking forward to giving local artists in Albany their own platform to expand their impact.
