About our event

Family Bridges has a 15-year history of providing curriculum and resources that empower families to achieve happiness and success. Each member of the family is an important part of the equation. Everyday Owl launched in 2020 to facilitate the growth of the young adults in the family who are about to break out into the world to explore it for themselves. Through online content and communities and the Bridgekeepers Coaching Program, Everyday Owl engages with Generation Z with facts and fun.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many young people saw their hopes and dreams put on the sehlf, their education upended and put entirely online, and detached from their friends and support groups. As anxiety skyrockets, college enrollment plummets, and families feel the stress of the past year, there is a need to have a safe place for people to get plugged in and feel like part of the community again.

Thanks to our special parters, Salem Media and Oaks Park, Everyday Owl is thrilled to host "EDDY's Family Field Day" on August 22nd, 2021. Oaks Park is an amusement park and a Portland institution that has been open since 1905. Salem Media's two prominent local stations, El Rey and The Fish, will be helping make the day extra special by providing music and engagement. We will have different family activities including corn hole, a scavenger hunt, and more! We want to celebrate how special family is in a way that is uniquely Portland, as well as let the young adults in those families know Everyday Owl is there to support them. 

We invite you to partner with us in hosting "EDDY's Family Field Day" to provide families from all backgrounds a  free event to celebrate community and fun in a way that is safe for everyone and fosters the community.

Sponsoring EDDY's Family Field Day is an opportunity to support a community that was hit really hard by the pandemic, Generation Z. Portland's young adults are struggling to find their place in this world now defined by the pandemic. By sponsoring the event, you will be providing scholarships to young adults in need to have one-on-one coaching support for one year to help them invest in their future. 

One of Everyday Owl's special partnerships for this event is Salem Media. This event will be promoted for one month prior to August 22nd to their local stations, to their two local music stations, El Rey (Spanish) and The Fish (English). Their reach goes to thousands in the greater Portland area. Sponsoring the field day will guarantee mentions for your organization on the radio to two very different demographics, as well as on the day of the event. Oaks Park draws thousands of visitors on the weekend as well. The visibility will be high and provides an opportunity to break into a new market, either regionally or linguistically.

Bethany Verrett is the development associate for Everyday Owl - a Family Bridges project. She has 5 years of nonprofit and event experience. Whether working as a volutneer, the site manager, or the event planner, she has worked for nonprofit events on all levels, and is excited to be a part of hosting this exciting new opportunity to make a splash for families and young adults in Portland.

Family Bridges/Lazos de Familia is a 15 year old 501c3 that has been there for families, with programs in Spanish and English. Family Bridges started in Chicago, Illinois and now has curriculum and programs all over the United States, as well as Puerto Rico and Spain.
