About the event
Welcome to Dorchester Rugby Club’s World Record RugbyAthon website. We are running a 24hr RugbyAthon on the 11th and 12th September 2015. This is going to consist of at least 24hrs of continuous rugby matches with teams from all across our club Vs Selected opponents. Senior mens & ladies teams, junior section and disabled teams will all be involved.
There will be rugby, sausages, stilt walkers, circus performers, ciders & ales, free to try rugby activities, live music and festivities over the two days. On the Saturday evening after the rugby has finished we will be holding a celebratory black tie dinner with guest speakers & music. The event will be raising money for Julia’s House Charity, Dorchester Rugby Club, Dorset Air Ambulance, Ducks and Drakes Cancer Trust, Matt Hampson Foundation, and the Wooden Spoon Society.
The event will be aimed at the local Dorset community with different sections of the event appealing to different demographics - On the Friday afternoon we will have a 17/18 year olds kicking off the 24hrs of rugby. Alongside this we will have live music from local young bands. As the evening continues the rugby will include ladies rugby, veteran rugby game and an exhibition match against a Wooden Spoon select team. At the same time the live music will progress into a very popular local band and there will be a cider and sausage festival into the evening. The rugby will continue throughout the night with several touch rugby matches and then our junior sides will start playing at 2am onwards leading into Saturday morning. These junior sides range from 7 all the way to 16. Alongside the rugby on the saturday morning we will have a large range of family activities and attractions, with the aim to get up to 2000 people at the event on the Saturday alone.
The event will culminate in a Charity Black tie event at 7pm on the Saturday at the Dorset County Show ground. A ball with delicious food, live music and a charity auction with lots such as a weekend in Barbados. The ball will be between 200-300 people alone.
The target is to raise £50,000 for a range of local and national charities.

It will be the finale of the event and a massive celebration. Your company name will appear on mail shots inviting people to the ball, the event website, the event programme, ball tickets, at both locations of the event and on every table at the ball.

Sponsor our cider & sausage festival marquee! This will be the main marquee on the Friday night which will be where every one enters to go to the cider bar and to buy their sausages!
