About the event

This year, our Kosher pit master will be Max McGarity. Max is an award winning pit master that has competed at events such as the Columbus Jazz and Rib Fest, Canal Winchester Ribs Festival and Food Truck Festival. He has been featured in 614 magazine and on Fox28 news for his St. Louis Style Ribs and 12 hour smoked hickory wood brisket. He has a successful non-kosher food truck business, PapayaBBQ.com, and will be opening a (non-kosher) restaurant, Smoked on High BBQ, in the fall.

We are also very pleased to announce and honored to have Bill Foley as our musical entertainment. Most recently Bill found notoriety as a terrorist fighter musician during the machete attack on the Nazareth Restaurant and Deli in northeast Columbus earlier this year. Police credited Bill’s heroics for slowing down the attacker and limiting the bloodshed.

Bill is a crowd pleaser with classic rock music of the 50s, 60s and 70s as well as some folk and country music. Foley has been performing since 1980 nationally and around Columbus and has opened for such acts as Three Dog Night, Lesley Gore, Dion, Johnny Rivers, Jefferson Starship, James Taylor, Huey Lewis and the News, Chicago, and Hall and Oates and many more.

The festival will also bring back more exciting kids attractions: Climbing Wall, Human-size Hamster Balls, and challenging inflatables, as-well- as, exhibiting artists and vendors.

If you participated as a sponsor last year, we would like to thank you for your support. This year we have expectations of growing attendance by 50% since kids will be home from summer vacation in time for the BBQ so more families are expected to participate.

The Buckeye Kosher BBQ Festival is a great opportunity to promote your business to a great demographic of Bexley residents while at the same time showing your support for our community.

Our media kit explains how each sponsor level and how one can increase your exposure prior to and at the Festival. Sponsorships range from $100 to $2,500, enabling any business to choose a level that fits their budget.

We are partnering once again with the Community Shelter Board and will be collecting needed supplies to stock their new Van Buren Family Shelter. The Community Shelter Board’s charge is to end homelessness in our community. It is a wonderful cause to have your brand closely associated.

Last year’s Buckeye Kosher BBQ Festival was a phenomenal success. For a first year event, we were overwhelmed with the outpouring of excitement and attendance it generated. Community support was amazing. More than 70 volunteers and 35 corporate sponsors helped bring this event to an audience of 1,000 festival goers.

Well, we are doing it again. The Festival will be grilling up some fun Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Wolfe Park at Broad St. and Nelson. There’s nothing like the aroma of BBQ on the last days of summer -- sharing with friends and neighbors in a warm community festival setting before the kids get settled into the routine of school.
