  • About the event

The Brooklyn Rose Strong 5K is an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research, specifically focusing on Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG)—a rare and aggressive brain tumor that primarily affects young children.

The event was inspired by and named in honor of Brooklyn, a brave three year old girl who battled DIPG for 9 months. The goal of the 5K is to bring people together to increase awareness about this devastating disease, advocate for better research funding, and provide support to families affected by pediatric cancers.

Proceeds from the event will be directed towards pediatric cancer research, advocacy efforts, and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children battling cancer and their families. Additionally, the event seeks to honor the memory of children who have passed away from DIPG/DMG and other childhood cancers while fostering hope and community support.

    Why should you sponsor?

By sponsoring this event, companies have the opportunity to support a noble cause—raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research, particularly for DIPG, a disease with limited treatment options and a zero chance of survival.

    Darline Medina

We are Brooklyn's parents, Darline and Anthony Medina. Brooklyn was the joy in our lives and the apple of our eyes. We would do anything and everything for her. Her smile lit up every room, she gave the best hugs. What we wouldn't do to have our baby girl back. Our Brooklyn was diagnosed at 2 years old with DIPG after a visit to the eye doctor for a lazy eye that seemed to have appeared overnight. The words no parents ever want to hear about their child are words that still run through our heads every day. Cancer, brain tumor, and inoperable. No hope was given to us. Brooklyn fought couragously. She still joked around and laughed through everything.

February 17, 2024, Brooklyn laid down her armour. The fight isnt over, as her parents we still fight in her honor, and we will continue to do so until there is a cure.
