The Black Power Rangers Comedy Tour was founded in 2022. The Black Power Rangers are a group of Black comedians who use comedy to share their point of view living in America, specifically growing up in the South. They effortlessly weave social commentary with pop culture for a uniquely hilarious show. The tour consists of a rotating lineup of Wills Maxwell Jr. (Wilmington, NC), Brandi Roberts (Raleigh, NC), Jarrod Fortune (New York, NY), Cordero Wilson (New York, NY), Jordan Centry (Charlotte, NC), and Brandi Augustus (Knoxville, TN). The comics are joined by a local comedy favorite at each stop. They tour to connect with more Black comics across the country, recruiting them to become fellow Rangers of Black Power. Each show is a celebration of humor, survival, and self-determination.
Over their first two years, the tour has visited 15 cities. We are currently preparing to embark on our third and most ambitious tour. This year we are performing in:
Charlotte, NC
Knoxville, TN
Greenville, SC
Charleston, SC
Athens, GA
Durham, NC
Wilmington, NC
Norfolk, VA
Washington, DC
Richmond, VA
Philadelphia, PA
Baltimore, MD
Pittsburgh, PA
Canton, OH
There is a lot of work leading into this tour and we cannot do it by ourselves. That is why we are looking for sponsors to help us fund this year’s tour.
Sponsors who support our tour will reach a diverse audience that is interested in a wide range of topics including comedy, politics, pop culture, and progressive causes. Our tour has received media coverage on both a local and national scale.

Wills Maxwell, Jr. started doing stand-up comedy when he was in 4th grade. His teacher didn’t appreciate him interrupting the class and his parents didn’t appreciate him getting in trouble. Due to the lack of appreciation, Wills retired from the business and started doing stand-up comedy again after he left high school. Since resuming his comedy career, Wills won Port City’s Top Comic in 2019 (Wilmington, NC), was a regional finalist in StandUp NBC in 2018, and a finalist at Ultimate Comic Challenge in 2020 (Greensboro, NC). In 2022, Wills founded the Black Power Rangers Comedy Tour, which visited 4 cities in 2022, and anticipates a 10-city tour in 2023. Wills also wrote and performed his on-air comedy news segment “What Did We Miss?” on Wilmington TV station WWAY News every Thursday morning for 5 years, totaling over 180 episodes. Wills has performed at the Cola Comedy Convention, the North Carolina Comedy Festival, the Oak City Comedy Festival and the Cape Fear Comedy Festival. Wills hosted Wilmington’s late-night talk show “Late Fear with Wills Maxwell” for three years. He has also opened for several comedians including Ramy Youssef, Roy Wood Jr., Tim Meadows, and Jim Gaffigan.
