About the event
AFCB is organising a mini carnival like event in Birmingham to celebrate the city diversity and to commemorate Cameroon National day. This is an event that will gather not only most of the communities in Birmingham, but also the whole Cameroonian community across the country and overseas.
About AFCB:
Founded in Birmingham in 2015, AFCB is a not for profit organisation whose aim is to bring together the whole of the Cameroonian community in the United Kingdom by creating a platform that will act as central point of reference in the promotion and protection of their cultural heritage, while ensuring the social cohesion and integration of other communities.
Given Cameroonians particular interest in sport in general and football in particular, one of the strategic approaches of AFCB has been to help build the above-mentioned platform based on football activities and tournaments, hence the organisation of the “20th May Festival” also known as “Cameroon May Day”. Cameroon May Day aims at bringing together, in the organising city of Birmingham thousands of Cameroonians and friends of Cameroon from all over the UK.
The celebration will proceed as follow:
Friday 27 May 2016
- A conference at Ibis hotel China town in Birmingham
Saturday 28 May 2016 day time
- A Big parade of all the delegations
- A 14 team football tournament
- African food fair and culture display
- Live Band
- Children soft play
- Kermesses
Saturday 28 May 2016 Night
- A gala night at the New Bringley Palace where 1200 people are expected
