  • About the event

This event is about celebrating the BIPOC artists and makers in our community. Our goal is to lift each participant and provide them a platform for visibility. This event will have an array of artists and makers from different mediums (i.e. jewelry, painting, apparel) and introduce them to hundreds of potential customers.

In addition we will be holding a raffle to raise money for United Way of Southeast Louisiana to help their continuing efforts to aid the people in Louisiana post Hurricane Ida.

    Why should you sponsor?

Our marketplace is about uplifting BIPOC businesses and artisans by providing a great location and event to display their offerings! BIPOC entrepreneurs and artists disportionately do not have the same visibility and capital compared to their white counterparts and we want to do what we can to close the gap. This event will introduce hundreds of potential new customers to our vendors as well as your company! In addition to the array of talented vendors we will be hosting, our event will be providing refreshments, music, photos, and a slime table for the kids sponsored by the SlooMoo Institute! We are giving back in more ways than one, a very special part of this event is the raffle we will be having to raise money for the United Way of Louisiana.

By contributing to this events consumbers will identify your company in line with values that support the BIPOC Community, humanitarian aid, and racial equity. Considering the past year, we believe that many consumers now more than ever want to know where company values lie and this is a great opportunity to make it LOUD + CLEAR. Furthermore, this is a great way for brand awareness/activation.

    Sydney Ziems

    Hello!

My name is Sydney Ziems. I am the founder of Serendipitous Project, a jewelry brand specializing in modern tropical gems. You can see our stuff at www.serendipitous-project.com or on instagram @serendipitousproject. My brand reached new levels last year after George Flloyd's death due to all the awareness around support black lives. A year later and I must admit that a lot of the momemtum has been lost. Not only that but so many marginalzied communites have faced such a turbulant year from racial motivated attacks to a border crisis I realized a lot of people are hurting. I wanted to do something to keep the momentum going and to keep showing up for these communities. Luckily, I had one amazing ally reach out to me to use her booth to sell my jewelry at Essex Market. After, planning we decided to go bigger and we have extended past her booth, and we will be doing something with Essex Market. This is going to be a really special event for me and I hope for you too. I believe this event will be a great way to say that we still see you and we still hear you, and we will keep trying.
