Banding Together To End Domestic Violence,

About the event

Family Violence Appellate Project believes no one should endure abuse. We exist to keep survivors and their families safe. Unfortunately, domestic violence is far too common. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner. Even when cases go to court, legal decisions often threaten the safety and wellbeing of survivors. 

Each year we band together to host a Battle of the Bands style event featuring bands made up of lawyers from Bay Area's top legal firms. They perform head to head to raise money for our mission and at the end of the evening one band is awared the coveted title, "Best Lawyer Band in the Bay" 

Together, we create community to raise awareness of domestic violence and help fund our mission which provides free legal aid and resources to survivors and their advocates across California and Washington State. We reverse dangerous court decisions and ensure laws do what they are intended to - protect survivors and their children.

Sponsorship of this event helps fund one of the only legal aid services in the entire country solely dedicated to working in the Court of Appeal. Our work creates binding legal precedent which can be used by surviovors to help win their cases. Supporting our mission helps break inter-generational cycles of abuse and trauma and creates tangible change to make the world a better place for the next generation.

SHAUNA TUEY

I am the Philanthropy Officer at Family Violence Appellate Project. I have nearly a decade of experience fundraising for large non-profits and deeply believe in the FVAP's vision for the future of legal aid. I am personally passionate about the intersection of health equity, social justice, and systems reform to create thriving communities.
