The DREAM Event is a community-centered wellness gathering designed to promote healthy living through nutrition education, fitness resources, and free health screenings provided by the Wayne Mobile Health Unit. One of the event’s highlights will be a live cooking demonstration where a nutrition-focused chef prepares delicious, low-glycemic dishes and shares samples with attendees.
High Community Impact: The event provides free health screenings, nutrition education, fitness demos, emotional wellness sessions, and family resources—meeting real needs in a zip code plagued by high rates of diabetes, obesity, and food insecurity.
Direct Reach: With over 200+ participants expected, sponsors can connect with local families, educators, and community leaders in a meaningful, face-to-face way.
Brand Alignment: Supporting this event aligns your brand with health equity, community empowerment, and social responsibility—values that today’s consumers respect and reward.
Public Recognition: Sponsors receive prominent visibility through flyers, banners, social media shout-outs, event signage, and verbal acknowledgment.
Legacy Building: Your contribution helps build a long-term wellness model for Detroit families—not just a one-day event, but a movement for generational health.
Hi, I’m Nat Bushell, co-founder and Executive Director of Somebody Who Cares Destiny Empowerment Center (SBWCDEC)—a Michigan-based nonprofit rooted in a deep commitment to community impact since 2008.
We began our journey with a media arts training program for youth, equipping students across Michigan and Ohio with not only technical skills but also values, purpose, and academic confidence. As we witnessed firsthand the transformation that happens when young minds are nurtured, we saw the need to expand our reach beyond education.
That’s why we launched The DREAM Program—Determined to Restore, Educate, Activate, and Mobilize—a proactive health initiative created to confront the rising rates of diabetes and pre-diabetes in underserved communities, particularly within Detroit.
According to the Office of Minority Health, 13.4% of Black men and 12.7% of Black women have been diagnosed with diabetes—a rate 60% higher than their white counterparts. These numbers are not just statistics—they are our neighbors, families, and friends.
Through DREAM, we’re addressing health disparities head-on—offering free screenings, nutrition education, fitness programs, and emotional wellness support—bringing life-saving resources directly to those who need them most.
This isn’t just a program. It’s a movement for health equity, dignity, and generational change.
