About the event
I am attempting to break the Guinness World Record for Fastest Journey on Foot from John O Groats to Lands End (male). This record has stood since 2002.
I am doing this to help raise awreness of Testicular Cancer. I was diagnosed with this earlier this year and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to treat it. This world record attempt is to ensure as many people as possible know the importance of regualr self assessments and the help on offer for this disease.
The aim is to raise at least a six figure sum of money for BallBoys Charity.
Why should you sponsor?
My record attempt will be featured on local and national news. BallBoys Charity have partnerships with some celebrities who can add value to my media worth.
I will have some known people running with me for short periods of time throughout the run which again adds more scope for a wide reach.
My fundraising aim and level of difficulty in my challenge qualifies me for awards held by an organisation that is based around the journey between John O Groats and Lands End. Any Sponsor can be named and promoted by me through these awards and events.
If sponsored I will leave my full time work and train full time. This means I will be training everyday and will travel all around the country as I do. Social media accounts will be set up for this record attempt and any sponsor can be promoted on a daily basis to all followers. (Expected - several thousand).
Documentaries have been made in the past about journeys such as mine. Discovery Channel have aired similar so I am planning on making footage for a future documentary from January 2018 until the attempt. Sponsors can be involved and featured in any documentary made.
Rob HarveyI own and run a website. Through my site I have built up partnerships and relationships with companies and individuals completely based on trust. 5 companies have sent me their products free of charge so I can review them for my site. No formal contracts are signed or made up, the companes trust me enough to work with me on this informal basis.
The products I have been sent total around a thousand pounds in value so far. One company (Water to Go) who I have been working with recently have offered to provide water bottles and t shirts for my record attempt as they are prepared to support me further.
I have also interviewed a variety of individuals for my site. They have a high level of trust in me that they are prepared to share answers with me and allow me to share these with my visiotrs.
My website is seperate from the world record attempt. I am completing the record as an individual and do not require any promotion of my site through this.
My website is a survival and preparedness site and can be seen at www.therealsurvivalists.com I current receive more than 1000 visitors per month and can use this to promote sponsors if deemed appropriate.
