    What is a Marathon?
    A marathon is a running event with a distance of 42.195 km. Most marathons are in the form of a road race while others are
    in the format of a cross country race.
    Running a marathon is tough, especially for beginners. Although running isn’t for everyone, it’s popularity has risen in recent
    years. However, before anyone should attempt to embark on the marathon journey, they should actually start with patience.
    On this long and tedious, but extremely rewarding journey, training is a must. Once you’ve crossed the finished line, you’ll see
    familiar and unfamiliar smiling and encouraging faces, which will prove that your hard work has paid off!
    Why Vientiane Marathon?
    In Southeast Asia, Laos has not organized a full marathon in consecutive years. The last marathon was organized in 2013.
    Since 2016, Events for Good (EFG), the organizers of the only legitimate half marathon, the Vientiane International Half
    Marathon (VIHM) found success in bringing a community of runners from the around the world together. The Vientiane
    International Marathon (VIM) is the first competitive international running race in Laos. The distances are 42KM, 21KM,
    10KM, and 5KM. These running routes will take you through the quiet city of Vientiane. Runners will weave through cultural
    and historic streets, landmarks, and will provides runners with unique experiences. The event starts and finishes at Laos’
    premiere landmark, Pa That Luang Grounds.
    The aim for VIM is to promote the importance of living a healthy lifestyle which incorporates regular exercise. Participants
    enter the race for many reasons. Some run to improve their health, support a local charity, develop unity in their community,
    and promoting a greener environment. The success of VIM will benefit the Lao economy. It will boost the tourism industry as
    well as other industries in Laos. People around the world are seeking new destinations for running and Laos is a unique locale
    for such an event. Soon, the Vientiane International Marathon will gain recognition and a reputation that attracts runners
    locally, across the nation, and around the world.

    Paul Siri

    My name is Paul and I am an event organizer. The majority my career has been operating overseas and in the sports industry. That being said I have a lot to offer to your firm with a fresh perspective on how to reach and engage key demographics. My experience includes over five years of print marketing, social media marketing and project management.

    Some of my specific accomplishments include:

    • Promoting and organizing the largest footrace in a Southeast Asian country, Lao PDR (bordering Thailand), gaining +4,000 participants and reaching hundreds of thousands in social media engagement.
    • Creating events to raise awareness for nonprofit organizations, for particularly handicap organizations and social development departments under the UN.
    • Receiving the 2018 FIFA World Cup Trophy at 3 locations in one day, including reaching the trophy and FIFA representatives to the country’s Prime Minister.
