  • About the event

San Diego has the highest population of vets in the country and the 3rd highest population of post–9/11 veterans in the U.S.   It is also the #1 destination for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Entrepreneurship offers a viable alterantive to the frustrating, daunting job hunt.

    Veteran Entrepreneurs are Job Creators!

For several years San Diego has been named by major national publications as the #1 place to start a business in 2014. California Department of Veterans Affairs research tells us 25% of discharged veterans want to start a business. Many veterans and currently enlisted military have launched startup enterprises and many more are seeking valuable information to help them startup and succeed.

The veteran entrepreneur service ecosystem in San Diego consists of numerous non-profits, governmental, and higher learning institutions offering fragmented services that are not organized or coordinated. This proliferation of assistance creates a daunting and confusing abundance of options.  Veteran Entrepreneurs Summit 2017 is a unique event aiming to make it easier for veteran and active military business owners to navigate the resources available, including VBO certification in order to meet the demand for supplier diversification.

Additionally, Veteran Entrepreneurs Summit 2017 will present government, business and community leaders in an educational environment covering several critical areas:

    • Launch Yourself | Take Off – Critical Areas for Success
    • Scale Up | Go Long – Secrets of Endurance
    • Build a Squad | Manage a Team – How to Pick & Lead a Strong Squad
    • Certification | Contracting – Training, Opportunities & Connections
    • Build Your Core | Skill Sets – You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know

According to event organizer, Executive Director of the National Veterans Transition Services, Inc.’s, retired Master Chief Petty Officer Maurice Wilson "There is no other conference or regional convention of the type we are planning. No veteran entrepreneurial symposium in Southern California is in existence, and there is no assembly of organizations serving veteran/military business owners. San Diego, with its business-friendly reputation and military concentration, is in a position to establish the region's first and most significant conference."

    Why should you sponsor?

Veteran entrepreneurs present a unique, untapped, growing market for companies and  corporations targeting business owners.   Any company interested in supporting veterans and the military will find this event a perfect opportunity.

Because veterans have been sequestered in a military environment, they do not have important community contacts in the civilian world, let alone any in the business world.  They are looking for all kinds of services and resources to support their enterprises, from office supplies to financial management, insurance to education.

Veterans and active military trust us.  We value that trust and have worked hard to earn it. Through our standing in the veteran community we are able to assist veteran entrepreneurs in a unique way. This Summit as part of that endeavor.  Your sponsorship takes advantage of an implied endorsement unavailable through any other marketing channel.

The public has an intense interest in veterans. Local media is receptive to promoting and covering events that address the military and veterans and is receptive to publicizing businesses who align with veteran causes.  Sponsorship of the Veteran Entrepreneurs Summit 2017 will bring a positive, long-lasting brand enhancement to the sponsor.

Veteran Entrepreneur Summit 2017 is produced by the National Veterans Transition Services, Inc, a nationally recognized non-profit located in San Diego, CA. (http://www.nvtsi.org/)

In 2010 the National Veterans Transition Service Inc. (NVTSI) created REBOOT Workshops™.
REBOOT Workshops™ are designed to meet an acute need for robust military to civilian transition program and close the gap. By addressing transition issues at their root cause, NVTSI and its network of partners helps transitioning service members, veterans and spouses successfully transitioning from the military-to-civilian world through a three phased, 15-day intensive workshop that empowers them with resiliency and self-sufficiency.

Taking a innovative and holistic approach to transition, the REBOOT Workshop™ builds upon your military training and skills to help you redefine your personal identity, purpose in life, and desired occupation. Participants are immersed in a reflective and engaging curriculum that successfully bridges the gap between military and civilian worlds.

This REBOOT Workshop™ focuses on three critical areas of a successful transition: Personal IdentityLifestyle Transition & Career Transition. The seminar addresses the personal and social aspects of transition to civilian life by using research-based, outcome-driven methods drawn from the best practices in career planning and cognitive-behavioral techniques. The workshop will help you get back on track with your life/career and shift your thinking from being military directed to being self-directed.

NVTSI is backed by a strong team of high-ranking, retired and active military as well as local government and business leaders.  Please see http://www.nvtsi.org/our-team/ for specific information.
