About the event
A recent Facebook post made on the 20th anniversary of the death of a friend, Frankie DiPiazza, who was killed at the age of 17 on February 16, 1997, called us to action. In the post, which was made by his mother, she mentioned renovating an area on the Charleroi School District campus in his memory as a place that perhaps his friends and their families might come to make their own memories, just as he had. The plan is to make the area an outdoor basketball/deck hockey area, and encourage kids to get out and play. In this regard, we have formed a committee and have planned several fundraisers to help with this project. One of the fundraisers planned is a Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Charleroi Community basketball game, which will be held on Saturday, April 29, in the school gym. To help defray the costs, we are looking for sponsors for the event. We hope that you will consider being a sponsor and help us to honor the memory of our friend.
