SSCAC 52nd Annual Art Auction Fundraiser,

South Shore Cultural Center, Chicago, Illinois, United States South Shore Cultural Center, Chicago, Illinois, United States

  • About the event

THIS ANNUAL EVENT PROMOTES LOCAL/NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL EMERGING & ESTABLISHED ARTISTS.

The“Party Gras” themed fundraiser will commemorate and mark the kick-off celebration for SSCAC co-founder, Dr. Margaret Burroughs’ centennial birth year.

Actor Harry Lennix is our Celebrity Honorary Chair; the Featured Guest Celebrity Artist is producer/actor-sculptor/author Tim Reid; and actress T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh is our “Closet Artist” -as many know her only as a performer.

The South Side Community Art Center (SSCAC) is the oldest African American Art Center in North America from the WPA Era.  The annual art auction furthers the SSCAC Mission:  To preserve, conserve and promote the legacy and future of African American Artists while educating the community on the value of art  and culture. Attendees from local, national, international businesses and the community-at-large, are encouraged to support emerging and established artists through a silent and live auction event.

This will be the first year artists are asked to 'donate' their works in an effort to have a 100% fundraiser benefitting the SSCAC.  Artists are able to submit for participation in 5-8+ events throughout the year at the SSCAC in which they may sale their art at full price, giving the SSCAC a commission.

Since June 2016, I have had the distinct pleasure of working as the Development Director for the SSCAC, under the leadership of Executive Director Maséqua Myers.

Fortifying, garnering support of and re-branding the SSCAC to its due greatness are my aspirations-even as I sleep!  Attracting multi-cultural attention, interest and support for this legendary organization, as an excellent Steward of the SSCAC legacy is my #1 priority.
