About the event

"Shiatsu Beyond Bodywork" will be an immersive wellness experience.

Attendees will embark on a journey into the profound world of Shiatsu, a holistic healing art deeply rooted in Japanese tradition. More than a massage, Shiatsu goes beyond mere physical manipulation, encompassing the balance of energy flow within the body to promote overall well-being.

The experience will include an interactive session led by Shiatsu grandmaster and founder of the Five Lights Center, Kumiko Kanyama. In this exclusive class, participants will learn directly from Kanyama Sensei herself, gaining invaluable insights and practical techniques to integrate Shiatsu into their daily lives to harness the therapeutic power of Shiatsu independently, empowering them to experience its benefits beyond the duration of the session.

Attendees will also learn the cultural and historical significance of Shiatsu, elucidating its evolution from ancient Eastern healing practices to its current status as a cornerstone of holistic wellness worldwide. Attendees will leave with an understanding of why Shiatsu transcends the confines of a conventional massage, offering a holistic approach to health that addresses the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

Kumiko has built a grassroots worldwide following for this culturally rich wellness practice and has taught at centers such as Kripalu, The Himalayan Institute, and The Omega Institute.
