About the event

Our organization, Hindu YUVA, provides a safe space for youth on campus to embrace their heritage. We aim to create opportunities for all college students to better participate in and understand Hindu culture and traditions. As such, we’re excited to host Shakti Fest, a rich South-Asian cultural experience, on September 21st from 10AM - 4PM at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! We will be hosting the Darshana Nationwide Traveling Exhibition at this event! “Darshana Exhibition: A Glimpse into the Hindu Civilization” features 24 posters and presents a colorful overview of Hindu traditions, history, and practices, offering an opportunity to learn about one of the world’s oldest civilizations. Furthermore, we will offer enriching activities, such as henna tattoos, diya painting, rangoli station, south-asian games, and indian snacks and drinks to engage students! We aim to promote cultural diversity on UNC’s campus by raising awareness and helping students learn and connect to South-Asian culture. As a non-profit cultural organization, we want our event to be accessible to everyone and will not have an admission fee to attend Shakti Fest.

Navya Dixit

Our aim is to bring students together to explore the Hindu faith and utilize its teachings to benefit the community. This organization will serve to share the Hindu way of life and a provide a forum to discuss the many facets of Hindu Dharma, including its religious, philosophical, spiritual, cultural, and social aspects.
