About the event
The Annual Rattlesnake Festival began in 1967 as a small Jaycee project in San Antonio, Florida. Through the years, it grew and changed with the times, but it has always had family fun, education and children in mind. The Thomas Promise Foundation, the fifth organization to coordinate the festival, took it over after it had been announced that the festival would cease after its 50th year in 2016. The Thomas Promise Foundation believed there was still life in the festival and gained permission to keep it running. In 2017, a very successful festival was presented. More than 10,000 people attended the festival and The Thomas Promise Foundation raised enough to provide 43,000 meals to under-privileged children.
Why should you sponsor?
The Rattlesnake Festival is the 3rd longest running festival in the Tampa Bay Area. Now in it's 52nd year, the festival is looking to expand their marketplace and reach. Your help will bring that much more awareness to the event and help showcase the festival and the cause it supports.
The Thomas Promise Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, raises funds to feed less fortunate children who have breakfast and lunch provided in school, but do not have access to nutritional meals on the weekends. Confirming the need of the students through the schools' administration, the foundation packs bag lunches containing six meals for the weekend each week. Currently the foundation provides about 300,000 meals per year and all proceeds of the Rattlesnake Festival go toward providing meals.
Joseph SimmonsMy name is Joe Simmons. I am the Executive Director of The Thomas Promise Foundation. I have been working with the foundation since the inception in 2012. I took over as Executive Director in June of last year. Before working for the foundation, I was the General Manager of a car dealership for 14 years. I became impassioned and involved with the foundation when I realized just how large the need was within our community.
After taking over as the Executive Director we were given the opportunity to host the Rattlesnake Festival. The appeal of the festival besides the 50+ year tradition, was having the opportunity to reimagine the festival while keeping the core traditions in tact. We had a very successful festival last year with 10,000 people coming and raising enough money to provide 43,000 meals within our community.
That was our first year. This year we are moving the festival to a larger venue to be able to expand our cause. We are looking to bring more awarness to the festival and your sponsorship will allow for us to spend more on advertising and branding.
We hope you will consider, if only to raise money to feed children.
