About the event
Radical Materiality is a curated exhibition of postgraduate work exploring the altering role of convergence between the digital and physical, and its impact on how we create artefacts and shape experiences. Our postgraduate students represent a rich mix of individuals - architects, entrepreneurs, virtual and augmented reality specialists, artists, engineers, graphic designers – all learning and working together to explore new professional practices.
The exhibition will showcase interdisciplinary design works, fashion and art installations, exploring diverse and often challenging themes. From the future of biotechnology and augmented beauty, to the simulation of space through illusion or the use of mixed reality to explore a migrant's journey, these works question received wisdom and articulate a sense of meaning and purpose around innovation, digital spaces and design thinking.

Radical Materiality is a curated exhibition of postgraduate work that will take place during the London Design Festival from 19-23 September and will showcase the work of 30 students from 21 nations. The projects on show explore the altering role of convergence between the digital and physical and its impact on how we create artefacts and shape experiences. From the future of biotechnology and augmented beauty, to the simulation of space through illusion or the use of mixed reality to explore a migrant's journey, these works question received wisdom and articulate a sense of meaning and purpose around innovation, digital spaces and design thinking.
