About the Event: At Front Steps, we believe in creating a stronger community by fostering connections and understanding among all members. Our community picnic is an opportunity to share laughter, stories, and delicious food in the heart of Austin, Texas. Woolridge Park will be transformed into a space of joy and camaraderie, where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together.
What to Expect: Food and Refreshments: We’ll be serving up a mouthwatering assortment of picnic treats, including sandwiches, snacks, refreshing drinks, and more. Food will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis, so arrive early to enjoy the feast! We will also be having a raffle and silent auction so make sure to get your tickets
Games and Activities: From fun games for the kids to engaging activities for the whole family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Join in the festivities, connect with fellow community members, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Live Entertainment: Groove to the rhythm of local musicians and performers as they provide a lively backdrop to our day of celebration.
Community Bonding: This picnic is a chance to meet new friends, catch up with old ones, and strengthen the bonds that make our community so special.

Why should you sponsor?
Front Steps has a loyal, trusted group of donors and supporters actively engaged in our events, newsletters, and social media. This event also takes place in Downtown Austin during the Austin City Limits festival. Free food and activities for families will certainly be a draw for foot traffic to attract new supporters of our mission and your brand.
Any financial support goes to offset the cost of the event and any excess funds will be used directly in support of our programs: Supportive Services for Veterans and Families (SSVF), Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for the disabled, and First Steps-- and innovative new program designed to help the average person fallen on hard times with housing placement for the actively homeless and housing displacement prevention to keep the housed from becoming homeless.
Our story started as a vision to help end homelessness in Austin, Texas. Front Steps was formed in 1997 as the Capital Area Homeless Alliance in response to a recommendation of the Community Action Network’s 1996 Comprehensive Plan for Addressing Homelessness. Our mission is to provide a pathway home.
Based on the belief that all people deserve the dignity of a safe place to call home, Front Steps’ mission is to provide a pathway home through shelter, affordable housing, and community education.
Our vision is that no person in our community should ever have to spend the night on the streets.
Mickayla Juroff, MBA, is the Development Manager and event organizer. New to Austin, she brings a wealth of experience from a career in educational and food-access nonprofit program management.
