About the event
Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua (PBT) Cultural Night 2021 is supposed to be held on Saturday, 24th April 2021 from 4.30 p.m. till 11.30 p.m. and conducted at Dewan Utama, Universiti Sains Malaysia Engineering Campus. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have prepared several conditions as mentioned below in order to make sure the event is still able to run. There are three conditions to make our event succeed which are:
- Condition 1 : The event will be held as mentioned above.
- Condition 2 : The event will be held in a relatively small area (USM Engineering Student Centre – PUMA Hall), and only provided for the engineering students to join.
- Condition 3 : Whole event will be conducted online on Facebook.
# All profit of the event will be donated to Pertubuhan Bakti "Wen Xin" Seberang Perai for charity purpose.
# We will update you with any latest information regarding the event from time to time.
The primary objective of the event is to encourage university students to pursue their dreams and cultivate their positive thinking in dealing with challenges in life. PBT Cultural Night 2021 also provides a platform for the university students to gain and learn those essential skills which enable them to compete in the future. The central idea of the entire event is tended to the development of the students as they are one of the event runners.
Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua, Universiti Sains Malaysia Engineering Campus, founded in 1989 and legally recognized in 2007, is established to promote Chinese culture to the university students and the public. Persatuan Bahasa TiongHua had organized numerous Chinese New Year celebrations before 2012. However, due to the changes in semester system, Charity Carnival has replaced the celebration and was held for the first time in the year of 2012. The name of the event has been changed from Charity Chinese Cultural Night to PBT Cultural Night starting from 2017.
On 15th April 2018, PBT Cultural Night 2018 was successfully organized at Dewan Utama, Universiti Sains Malaysia Engineering Campus. Over 1000 audiences have attended the event including residents from the nearby residential areas and the students from other universities such as USM Main Campus, UPSI, UUM, UniMap, UTAR etc. The event showcased Chinese cultural shows, stage performances by USM students as well as drama performance by committee members. PBT Cultural Night 2018 managed to raise more than RM 2,500 and received media coverage by Sin Chew Daily and Kwang Wah Yit Poh.
We would like to make the progression of PBT Cultural Night 2021 not solely as a cultural night, but to bring out our message embedded within our theme – Cultural Quintessence. Hence, we will be having a cultural performance night, a bazaar, an exhibition, roadshows as well as motivational talks to address our messages. We are targeting more than 1000 audiences to PBT Cultural Night 2021.
