  • About the event

The Nigerian Student Association at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is presenting The Colors of Africa: a unique and exciting fashion show that showcases the exquisite and vibrant colors, styles and fabrics of traditional, modern, and sophisticated African clothing. We want to put on a great show so that the people of Birmingham can see the lively colors of various aspects of African culture. We are already confirmed to showcase over 15 designers and have the biggest venue on campus reserved: all four sections of the illustrious Hill Student Center at UAB. We need sponsors to make our show spectacular! We want to hire an authentic dancer from the Zulu Nation (~$350), include a photo booth so our guests can always remember the night (~$500) and also reimburse our fabulous designers for their time and traveling expenses (~$500). One of our designers is Zenzele's Cosignment in Huntsville, Alabama. They are a non-profit organization that raises money for underdeveloped areas in Africa. We would also like to give them a surprise donation of about $300 To help their cause! Any sponsorships would be greatly appreciated: we'll take anything that will help make this successful!

    Why should you sponsor?

Sponsors should support our event because we ultimately want to give to Zenzele Consignment. They raise funds to support and grow underdeveloped parts of Africa and we believe that's an incredible cause! If we can put on a great show, more people will be willing to donate to the cause, especially if we can also present them with a check to go towards their efforts.

Our main target audience will be UAB college students and Birmingham residents in the south side area.

    Whitney Okesanjo

Hello, my name is Whitney Okesanjo and I am the event coordinator for the Nigerian Student Association (NSA) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). This is my first year being an event coordinator for NSA but so far I'm enjoying it! Even though it can be stressful at times, especially since I try to balance school and work, I generally have a good time doing my job. My major is biomedical engineering and I'm from Huntsville Alabama.
