Make Up/Beauty Workshop,

Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

  • About the event

I would like to create a beauty workshop (specifically make up) for black/colored people in Lyon.

I would like to provide girls and women from different ages and backgrounds, with guidandes from a Make Up Artist and a beautician, on how to take care of their skin, how to realize a simple make up or a specific one, how to adapt make up according to their own skin, how to find the perfect foundation, or eye-liner or concealer etc.

In Lyon we don't really have access to this kind of guidance for black women, and even though there's a lot beauty products for us compared to several years ago, we don't actually know exactly how to use it and we are just so lazy to check it out on youtube pages.

My concept is basically to bring to live the youtube experience with a beauty "gourou", passioned about make up, and experienced, giving advises and showing how to do our make up. The difference is that this time, this MUA will have a proper audience in front of her, and will be able to actually interact with people as well as do real demonstrations, and all of that in friendly and cosy environment.

Having a beautician will also be important because before knowing how to do a make up, we have to know how to take care of our skin, and what kind of products are really adapted for us.

    Why should you sponsor?

A Sponsor should support my event first of all because the idea is actually quite simple but very interesting.

Compared to Paris, Lyon is a  kind of developing market when it comes to beauty products for black people, especially for black/colored women. Some products are worth the test but people just don't know it because either they are not sell in this area, or they are sell but only in exclusive retail stores/beauty salons and again, unless you've heard about it before, you just don't know it. Sometimes it is also because there's so much products available that people can't really all of it for just testing unless they have an opportunity to do so.

This workshop is just the beginning of a lot more to come, with bigger audiences and a bigger visibility. Plus I have access to beauty platforms on Facebook, targeting black women, and counting between 6000 to 50000 members. That will be worth the visibility and will definitely encourage people to discover new things. Or that allow people to get to know a bit more, either a product they already knew about, or a product they didn't know but will keep in mind.

    Either way, we both win.

I'm a young woman working as an International Fieldwork Coordinator,  in a French Company specialized in Market Studies for the Health Industry.

I graduated about a year ago and started to work in Lyon. I'm passionate about cultures (African and Asian cultures), about food (cooking is what I love), about music and I love discovering new things, new people, and new hobbies.

Being curious is what led me to the makeup. I wanted to know more about it, I thought it was fun but when I decided to start to use it,  I also struggled to actually find the perfect foundation (for now it's Estee Lauder, maybe it would be different in 2 years), the perfect mascara and just how to adapt according my own skin.

I found interest in that because it's like art to me, and knowing that some of my friends were sometimes also struggling with the same issues when it comes to make up, I decided to actually organize a workshop. Not that I'm a professional or very experienced, but I want people to have to these kind of information, because I like to share what I learn and discover.
