About the event

The Eco 8k started in 2010 and has been a local favorite race among SoCal competitive runners. The event is featured in the USATF Cross Country Grand Prix which attracts elite athletes from Running Clubs such as Cal Coast, ARC Racing Project, Snail's Pace, The Janes and New Basin Blues. This year we are expanding our participant base by adding a relay to appeal to a wider range of runners.

Heather Heath

As an avid cross country and track runner since high school, I wanted to create a  grassroots race for my local running community. I noticed most of the races that I particpated in were very wasteful so I sought to bring awareness to this issue. Some of the features of my races have included shoe recycling drives, solar generators, eco friendly/ recycled awards and organic cotton or recycled fiber shirts.
