About the event

Island Delight is a Caribbean student event hosted by Emory University's Caribbean student organization highlighting the "various identities that comprise the Caribbean through food, dance, fashion and other artistic expressions and commemorate a culturally rich portion of Emory’s community". While this annual event is usually held on campus, we want to take the event off-campus to a venue where the students from all the major Caribbean student groups and nearby universities can celebrate this culture. We hope that through this event we can educate the public about Caribbean culture, draw attention to issues devastating the islands currently (i.e. the impact of hurricane Maria and Irma), and bring together hundreds of Caribbean students from the greater Atlanta region. 

Why should you sponsor?

You may ask, "Why should I sponsor this event?" Island Delight is not only an event focused on food and entertainment. The Caribbean students attending this event are from several well-known and admired schools in the region that are the future "movers and shakers" in their industries. Sponsoring this event can create relationships between potential employers and students that could join your workforce and be vital assets to your companies. Also, sponsoring this event and even our organization, Association of Caribbean Educators and Students, supports an organization dedicated to diversity and social issues in the Caribbean. We have fundraised and collaborated with other organizations standing for improvement in Haiti, rebuilding Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands after the hurricanes, and so much more. Your sponsorship is not only impacting this event but creating greater opportunities for advocacy in the Caribbean while supporting future leaders in the fields of medicine, business, law, and so much more. 

Donna-May Bernard

My name is Donna-May Bernard, and I am a Junior at Emory University from the US Virgin Islands. I love the Caribbean, and being apart of an organization that celebrates that culture is exciting. Attended a small school on an 84 square mile island but now have the amazing opportunity to attend Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia as I pursue a double major in Psychology and Human Health. My greatest dream is becoming a medical doctor, and one day, improving the conditions of my home.
