About the event

The International System Safety Conference (ISSC) is the premier international conference on System Safety. The ISSC is the annual event presented by the International System Safety Society, a non-profit organization supporting safety professionals worldwide. Please join us Aug. 13 – 17, 2018 for the 36th ISSC in Phoenix Arizona for the world’s largest gathering of System Safety practitioners.

The theme for this year’s conference is System Safety: “Delivering Safety Through Design”. System Safety is the application of special technical and managerial skills to the systematic, forward-looking identification and control of hazards throughout the life cycle of a product, process or program. System Safety is appropriate and applicable to ALL aspects of safety because it is forward-looking, based upon the specific characteristics of the system under consideration (i.e. process, product, program), including Product Design Safety, Process Safety Management, Functional Safety, Chemical Process Safety, Risk Management, Human Factors, Software Safety, Cybersafety/Cybersecurity, and Prevention Through Design. System Safety methodology and techniques are used in numerous industries such as Department of Defense, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing, Air and Rail Transportation, Construction, Mining, Risk Management, Chemical Industry, Medical Device and other Safety Critical Product Designs and Manufacturing, Robotics, Autonomous Vehicle Design, and many others.

We invite all who are interested in system safety to the 36^th ISSC. There will be paper, tutorial, poster, and multimedia sessions from novice through advanced, with plenty of time for networking and meeting new and old friends.

The 36th ISSC is also reaching out to industries in increasingly complex environments, to help deliver cutting-edge system safety “prevention through design” solutions.
