About the event

Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota is a nonprofit, housing ministry dedicated to building simple, decent and affordable housing with and for working, low-income families in need. Families are given a 0% mortgage and are required to put in a minimum of 200 hours of sweat equity into the building of their home.

The annual Home Tweet Home raises funds to build homes for families in need. The success of the 2016 Home Tweet Home led to the completion of our 120th home. We are in the process of constructing 6 homes for this year.

This year’s event will be held at 6:30pm on May 4^th at the Country Inn and Suites in Mankato. This year we are planning live music, a silent auction, wine wall raffle, and a dessert tasting.

Why should you sponsor?

Continuing to build housing has become a greater challenge with the average build cost doubling over the last 20 years. In the 2016 Mankato Area Housing Study found that over 4600 households had a housing cost greater than 30% of their total income, with a majority of having over 35%. Providing affordable housing does not just provide a single family with a safe place to live, but it also financially allows them to allocate money for other expenses. These expenses can include healthcare, transportation, food, clothing, etc. Many of these expenses go right back into the local economy which help with the economic growth of the city and the future.

My name is Michael Euerle and I am the newest member to the Habitat team here in Mankato. I have worked many years for a large for-profit company, and recently made the change to non-profit with the hope of making a direct impact on the Mankato community.
