About the event
The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival of Music, Art & Dance seeks to change and grow the idea of interactive community arts in Miami. Music serves as a magnet, bringing people together to experience a holistic creative environment where body mind and soul are nourished equally. The festival is affordable, with 4-day pre-sale tickets priced at $100 and single day passes available as well. We stand for a divergent culture from that of superficial consumption and exclusivity.
This is a festival for all of Miami's many socio-economic and ethnic strata: An empowering showcase of talent and opportunity available in South Florida: A lifestyle event that offers South Floridian's and travelers alike a chance to mingle the experience of audience member and creator, student and teacher, nature-lover, dancer, yogi, foodie and music appreciator.
The idea is to follow the appearance of community and global awareness all the way through the systems that make the festival possible. We encourage an environmentally conscious Miami, therefore we recycle, compost and sort all waste created on-site. Our sustainability fair component provides a platform for green businesses throughout South Florida to make their services known. They offer free workshops and demos on everything from solar power to home bread making, micro-finance to urban gardening. We believe that Miami festivals should support Miami talent and also bring global voices to a local community. The GrassRoots Festival Organization has expanded its offerings from three annual 4-day festivals to a fourth, most diverse and dynamic event, the winter Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival. The advancement of our presence in South Florida offers a chance to not only enrich peoples' lives through exposure to music but to empower them in the making of their own creative lives. Thinking creatively extends beyond the stage to the everyday choices we make in our communities.
