About the event
What: Third Annual Cross Country Invitational
When: September 16, 2017 @ 9am
Where: Southside High School in Greenville, South Carolina
Why: To support the growing Southside Cross Country program, high school cross country athletes throughout the state, and foster a greater sense of community in the area.
How: By offering free entry to all teams, support from coaching staff before, during, and after the event, selling inexpensive race t-shirts, and offering free photos online from the race for athletes and families to enjoy.
Why should you sponsor?
In the second year of our invitational we had 20 teams participate, 493 athletes, and approximately a total of 700 people in attendance. This year we are expecting 25-30 teams to participate in this invitational. For all sponsors this means approximately 700-800 student athletes will be reached, and 1,000 total people will be in attendance. This is an excellent opportunity for company outreach. The number of people only increases once the event is finished. We expect to sell 200 event tshirts that will have your company's logo on it. Athletes, familes, and friends that sport your company's logo along with the banners that will be hung at every race throughout the season means that approximately 7,000 people will be reached by the middle of November.
Jonathan SmithMy wife and I have been the head coaches at Southside High School for the past three years. Southside High School is a low income high school, with 54% of students qualifying for free-lunch. Before my wife and I volunteered to be head coaches, the program finished the season with only one runner. We had to fight tooth and nail for cross country to remain a sport at Southside. However, our hard work and efforts over the past three years were successful as the program saw the boys and girls team (which now totals 48 athletes) qualify for the State Meet for the first time in school history this past Fall! Not only that, but the girls saw Southside's first All-State Cross Country athlete. I am so proud of our athletes, the progress they have made, and their improvement as both people and students since joining our program. My goal is to do all I can to give these students the opportunities on their journey towards not only becoming better runners, but successful people.
