About the event

History

Rock machine, lately known as Indus Creed, was the rst band ever that played in GEC. The college has also
hosted the rock show Zero, Millennium in 1997, Parikrama in 1998, Pentagram in 1996 and 1999,
Ezee Meat in 1997, Brahma in 2000, PDV, Moksha, Metakix, Psychomotor, Sceptre in 2004.
In 2008, Goa witnessed the biggest youth festival in Goa so far, at Farmagudi. 35 events were conducted
over three days in February. The biggest attraction was the Pro Night on 22nd February featuring 'Jal',
the Band from Pakistan and Rock show on 23rd February featuring Decibel from Delhi and Fahrenheit.
2009 saw two other big names performing for the rock show, Bhayanak Maut and Reverse Polarity
both based in Mumbai.
After a break of six years, Happenings was officially organized again in 2014. Happenings 2015, a two-day
event witnessed a Pro Night featuring GEC Alumni DJ Anish Sood.
In the year 2016 the venue of Happenings was shifted outside college campus for the rst time in its
history. Happenings 2016 was held at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. The ProNight witnessed
a performance by ‘ The 3 Horsemen’ and DJ Night organized in association with Vh1 Supersonic, featured
Lost Stories.
Last year, Happenings 2017 Pro Night was organized in association with Coke Studio and featured
bollywood sensation Jonita Gandhi, while the DJ Night, in association with Vh1 Supersonic featured
internationally acclaimed DJ Zaeden.

"HAPPENINGS-2018” will be a mix blend of Cultural, sports, fun & entertainment under one banner.
It is a National Level Inter-College festival in which a number of Professional colleges across the country participate.
We plan on taking this prestigious event to new heights this year with the event being scheduled in the
last week of February, at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Panaji. It will be a two-day event to be witnessed
by a large number of participants from all over India. We expect a crowd attendance of around 15000 students
this year. Various celebrities and famous personalities would be coming as Guest Speakers and Judges for the
event thus promoting it to the student community at large.

What is Happening

Performance
In addition to the Pro night, the crowd will witness ash mobs and various
street performances to promote local talent.
Pro Night
The Pro Night will include the performance by well known local and national
artists. The highlight being the performance by an international artist.
Competition
Competition will be held with preliminary audition and on-stage nal rounds.
Audition will be held in parallel manner at the venue.

Goa Engineering College (abbreviated and colloquially
referred to as GEC) was founded in the year 1967
and is the oldest engineering college in Goa.
With over 2,000 students,
the college has the largest campus in Goa, spread well
over 285 acres atop Farmagudi hill.
In the year 1981,GEC saw the inception of it's rst
ever inter-college cultural festival called
“HAPPENINGS" which is officially the oldest
college festival in Goa.
It has been Goa’s biggest and best college
fest right from its inception. It’s the most prestigious
and widely anticipated college fest
organized in the state of Goa.
Happenings 2018 promises to uphold
its legacy of fun, entertainment and the spirit
of competition under one banner.
